Esteemed porn scholar Jeffrey Escoffier was recently explaining the evolution of nudity in film. In the mid-1950s, directors like Russ Meyer pioneered nudity in films known as Nudie-Cuties, campy comedies that featured lots of boobs. These gave way to “Beavers” — movies that showed female crotch — and these led to the “Split Beaver” movies, which actually showed women with their legs open. Without these there would be no porn today — gay or straight.
Got me thinking: It’s actually somewhat rare to see the gay-equivalent of the “Split Beaver” in gay porn. We get lots of shots of things getting stuffed into assholes, (and some directors are really obsessed with showing a gaping one) but how often do you actually get to see an unobstructed, pristine asshole — one thats not obscured by the ass cheeks? Here’s a couple of shots of what I’m talking about — exceptions that prove the rule, if you will:
